Why I do what I do
My son has an autoimmune disease called Eosinophilic esophagitis (it’s a mouthful I know).
We spent years trying to find out what was wrong and after spending thousands of dollars seeing many specialists and being told that “nothing was wrong”, or “it is neurological” I decided that I would have to study nutrition and get to the bottom of it myself. It was a relief when we finally confirmed his diagnosis and he was in the care of the Royal Children’s Hospital, however I was not prepared for the reality of life long steroids and the side effects that came with them.
This is when I launched into the study of Functional Medicine, did the testing, applied the principles and began to coach my son on identifying what his triggers were. We saw real change over about 6 months, and in consultation with his doctors at the Royal Children’s Hospital he decided to remove himself from his medications and manage his illness through diet and lifestyle.
This story has fuelled my passion to help people navigate their complex health issues and achieve wellness.
